Singing to Your Baby

Singing a lullaby in a rocking chair while you gently send your baby off to sleep is a nice image. But not all of us have the gift of an amazing singing voice, right? Well, it just so happens that your baby won’t be a tough crowd.

You already know how much your baby loves the sound of your voice. Hearing your voice soothes your baby and helps with bonding. Did you know that music engages your baby still further? Music makes the language you share come alive for your baby – and it can be an emotional experience for you too.

Try a toy or music box that has the instrumental version of a song you know or can learn the words to. You’ll have and an engaging an interactive activity for you and your baby when you start the music and add your voice. As your child grows, singing along helps with learning new words, animal names, and sound associations.
