Sleep Like A Baby

How To Teach Baby Healthy Sleeping Habits

“People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one,” said Leo J. Burke. Now, we don’t know who Leo is but, as parents to sleepless newborns, we know how true that statement is.

During the first months of life, a newborn baby is still developing and learning the process of falling into a safe and healthy sleep habit. As a parent, one of the most important things you can do is to learn to recognize when your little bundle is hungry, cold, hot and, more importantly, when he or she is sleepy. For example, many babies rub their eyes or become irritable and fussy when they’re tired. Looking for tell tale signs like these will help you know when it is time to get her ready for bed to get the sleep she needs. Here, some quick tips to help baby get the most out of her sleeping as well as cribs and bassinets we love…
  1. Establish a routine before bed. Helping your child become familiar with a set of bedtime rituals will help her know it’s time to sleep. A routine could include  a soothing bath, feeding him, putting on PJs or singing a lullaby.
  2. In the first few weeks of life, baby will not be able to distinguish between day and night. Help her develop the habit of sleeping through the night by feeding her just a bit more before bed. Even half an ounce more will help her sleep for a longer period of time between feedings.
  3. To teach baby to fall asleep on his own, put him to bed when he’s drowsy. Training him to fall asleep in his crib and not your arms will go a long way in establishing healthy sleeping habits early on.
  4. Baby should always sleep on her back, which greatly reduces the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
  5. Make sure your baby’s mattress is firm against the sides of the cribs. And keep baby’s crib free of pillows, plush toys and comforters.

STOKKE SLEEPI is an adjustable bed that can be made smaller or bigger with additional parts. It can be used from birth through approximately 7 years of age.
OFFI Nest Bassinet was born from the desire to have a bedside sleeping option for babies. This room-sharing solution brings peace of mind to parents, so they can rest soundly knowing their baby is safe and comfortable next to them.
Hushamok Dream is designed to provide you and your baby the most peaceful night’s sleep thanks to natural swinging and rocking motion that induces sleep in babies.
