Getting Organized for Dress-Up

It seems like a contradiction in terms, being organized for a playtime activity that’s all about letting the clothes and costumes fly.

But knowing you’ll have a place to store all the props and clothes can make a big difference if you’re considering starting a dress-up collection in your home.

Start with Storage

Racks and shelving that display the bulk of your costumes, props, and play clothes are ideal to launch your child’s imagination. Placing everything in view and within easy reach will also help your child know where the item should return to when dress-up time is over.

Get Creative

Look for costume toys that fit with your child’s personality. Have you got a princess at home? Try a toy crown and gown. Or for a superhero fan, a cape and mask can go a long way.

For career outfits, a few props from costume shops can add even more interactive fun. Scrubs, a hard hat, an imitation police officer hat, or a wig can be ideal for role playing. For just a general grown-up look with a bit of extra flair, add funky hats and fancy shoes. And with the right storage, you’ll have lots of fuel for dress-up creativity, all right at your fingertips.
