How can you make reusable tableware from corn? That was our first question when we found Dandelion earth-friendly products for babies. While their formula is top-secret, we were able to dig up a bit more on these amazing products.

“We use a unique corn (PLA) formula. Unlike conventional plastic, which is largely made from petroleum, our bioplastic is primarily made from corn! Polylactic acid (PLA) requires significantly less fossil resources, and generates far fewer green house gases than conventional plastic. And corn is a renewable and sustainable resource.” – Dandelion

“PLA is a biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch (in the United States) or sugarcanes (in the rest of world). Although PLA has been known for more than a century, it has only been of commercial interest in recent years, in light of its biodegradability.” – Wikipedia

Needless to say, Dandelion’s products are BPA free, Phthalate free, and PVC free. Because they are biodegradable, they aren’t dishwasher safe. We think the time you’ll spend washing by hand is well worth the benefits of these bowls, plates, and utensils.
